【摘要】:Thispracticeisintendedprimarilyforthemechanizedultrasonicexaminationofpipegirthweldsusedintheconstructionofgasandoilpipelines.Thispractice,withappropriatemodificationsduetochangesinweldprofile,mayalsobeusedtoexaminerepairedwelds.ManualtechniquessuchasdescribedinPracticeE164mayalsobeusedtoexamineproductionorrepairedwelds.Thispractice,withappropriatemodifications,mayalsobeusedtoexamineotherformsofbuttweldsincludinglongseams.Techniquesusedaretobebasedonzonaldiscriminationwherebytheweldisdividedintoapproximatelyequalverticalexaminationsections(zones)eachbeingassessedbyapairofultrasonicsearchunits.SeeFig.1fortypicalzones.Thicknessesofmaterialexaminedarenormally7to25mm[0.28to1.00in.]andpipediameters15cm[6.0in.]andgreaterbutthisstandardmayapplytootherthicknessesanddiametersifthetechniquescanbeproventoprovidetherequiredzonaldiscrimination.Examinationzonesaretypically2to3mm[0.08to0.12in.]inheight.Formostapplicationsthiswillrequiretheuseofcontactfocusedsearchunitstoavoidinterferingsignalsoriginatingfromoff-axisgeometricreflectorsandtoavoidexcessiveoverlapwithadjacentzones.FIG.1SchematicRepresentationofWeldZonesandDiscontinuities1.1Thispracticecoverstherequirementsformechanizedultrasonicexaminationofgirthwelds.Evaluationisbasedupontheresultsofmechanizedultrasonicexamination.AcceptancecriteriaarebaseduponflawlimitsdefinedbyanEngineeringCriticalAssessment(ECA)orotheraccept/rejectcriteriadefinedbytheContractingAgency.1.2Thispracticeshallbeapplicabletothedevelopmentofanexaminationprocedureagreeduponbetweentheusersofthispractice.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsgiveninbracketsareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
